Jewel VS Melon Resin
How’s Different of Jewel Resin and Melon Resin
Allow me to explain the differences between Jewel and Melon Resin, as well as the types of jobs that they are most suited for.
1. What's Jewel Resin and Melon Resin
To begin with, both Jewel and Melon resins are UV-LED resins, which means they cure faster and better with UV-LED lamps and can be used with only modest 6W LED lamps!
They are..
● One standalone UV-LED resin curing with both LED light(405nm) and UV light(365nm).
● Curing fast with UV-LED lamps
● high transperency with long-lasting non-yellowing protection.
● when it cured, waterproof product. and no harmless to skin
● slightly odor! they both have really good feedback for their smell .
● Work with any silicone molds (UV resin work great with clear silicone molds but if you have to work with colored molds, it can works by layering thin layers and always cure the back sides
2. How’s different of Jewel and Melon resin?
Melon resin is upgrade formula from jewel resin, released 5 months later
here are the differences :
- Melon resin is faster curing than Jewel Resin!
when curing them to solid objects, both can resist to yellowish but melon is better than jewel resin 3X !
- Melon smell nicer! it have a slightly sweet of Melon flavor!
2.1 Curing time
Both of them are UV-LED resin, curing with UV-LED lamps is the best way to get the best result. They can curing within minutes even using 6W LED lamp! And not recomment to use super high power nail lamps! Best recommend to curing Chulimare’s Resin are 6W-90W UV-LED lamps!
2.2 Finishing touch and odor
Both have a mild scent, and no irritation your skin and respiratory system. but Melon has a subtle melon flavor when cured!
in terms of finishing touch, Both had a shiny and silky finish, however the melon dried faster which mean felt more gleaming and smooth than the jewel !
2.3 mold friendly and removing bubbles
They are good to go with silicone molds! But jewel Resin is removing bubbles little more easy than Melon, meanwhile melon is cured faster so melon is better to work with silicone molds
2.4 Dried flower friendly ..
You can't skip these beautiful dried flowers when you try to do resin projects ! natural dried or preserved flowers are weak and can't stand with high temperature, when curing, when you do flower UV resin. It's better to use with Jewel resin because It's curing slower and lower heat.
3. Can we use the same UV-LED lamps?
definitely YES!, but recommend to use just 6W-86W LED lamps, but melon resin is super fast curing resin , so, just bake your works 10sec or 30sec and leave it cool off to avoid overheat from fast curing process.
4. What kind of jobs are work with them?
These are some guide for UV resin craft jobs. melon and jewel have their own character for specific purpose of crafts, here they are :
Coating natural dried materials : jewel resin is better for this kind, cause it slower curing which mean they’re harder to get overheat when curing than melon resin
Craft with molds: melon is better because how super fast curing it is and melon will give you a clearly shiny silky touch finishing.
Colored/glitter craft : both are suit for these jobs but I recommend to use jewel cause its less bubbles than melon.
Flat coating : melon is better, it gave more shiny silky touch than jewel.
Wire craft uv resin : you can both but jewel has lower curing speed so it's better when you need more time to twist your copper wire projects.
5. Jewel Resin and Melon Resin : Which one is best for you
Jewel Resin have a all-good-balance UV-LED resin, they curing fast, resist to yellowing with pretty good feedback odor. It's best to use or coat with dried flowers, sensitive materials. cheaper price.
meanwhile melon resin is an upgrade from jewel resin, it's outstanding with slightly melon flavor, super fast curing and good to resist yellowing. It's Best to use with molds and coatings.
Final Opinion :
for me, It's best to use them both, I usually use Jewel Resin for craft in molds (cause it's cheaper) and coat first layer for dried flowers. Then final coating my works with Melon Resin It's gave a silky shiny touch more than Jewerl does !
But if I have to do an urgent projects ---> melon is the best options !
now you can choose what's suited for your projects ?
or just grab them both and test them yourself?
